Who says Chinese students cannot be creative?

Last semester I challenged my senior students with a project. They were supposed to write a children’s book.

First, they were complaining till Kingdom come not believing they are even able to do so. After all, English is their second language.

Every week, we spent two hours in our school’s lab to create their books step by step, from the front cover, through visuals, summary of the plot and even references (they were required to do some research before they started).

The results are presented here. I was gobsmacked when they brought me their final accomplishments. Some of the books look very professional and the stories they’ve included are definitely worth a minute.

The best story tellers will be rewarded in a form of having their short stories published in a compilation project which I am currently editing.

Excellent job guys! Never doubt yourselves! So proud of you all!
